Our clearing is licensed for civil ceremonies, so the legal part happens here rather than at a register office two hours earlier. Celebrant, humanist and blessing ceremonies work here too.
It is an easy detail to miss when you are looking at photographs. A lot of beautiful outdoor spaces are not licensed for legal ceremonies, which means the wedding you are picturing under the trees is actually the second event of the day. The legal one happens at a register office that morning, in front of two witnesses, in a room.
Couples usually discover this late, after they have fallen for the pictures. Then the day splits in two, the timings tighten, and somebody has to explain to eighty guests why they are meeting at eleven in a car park.
Our clearing is licensed. You arrive married to nobody and leave married, in the same wood, on the same afternoon.
A registrar from Worcestershire County Council attends and the marriage is legal on the spot. There are rules about what can be said — no religious readings or hymns — but the setting, the music around it and the order of the day are yours.
No legal restrictions on content, so the ceremony can say whatever you want it to. You give notice and sign the legal register separately, usually at a register office in a ten-minute appointment before the day.
For couples already married, or marrying abroad, or who want something for the people who could not travel. Held anywhere on the site you like, at any time of day.
The honest answer is that we move it. Chairs come off the clearing and go under canvas, the arch relocates, and the ceremony happens dry with the wood visible through the open sides. It takes about fifteen minutes and we make the call with you at around eleven, not at ten to two.
Whether the licence extends to the covered space as well as the clearing is worth asking us early — it is the difference between moving the ceremony and moving only the chairs, and we confirm it in writing before you book.
We hold your date. The registrar holds theirs. They are two different diaries and the second one fills up faster than couples expect, so book it the week you book us.

Yes. A civil ceremony cannot include religious content, but everything else — readings, vows within the legal wording, music, who walks in with whom — is yours.
Three hundred seated in the clearing. If rain moves the ceremony under canvas it is 250 seated, so a very large guest list is worth talking through with us at the viewing.
The licence applies to a defined area, so the legal ceremony happens in the clearing. A celebrant or blessing ceremony can happen anywhere you like.
Earlier than most couples plan. An afternoon ceremony leaves the whole evening in the wood rather than a rush to eat before dark — and in winter, when the light goes at four, an early ceremony is the difference between photographs in the trees and photographs in the dark. Ask us which slots are open on your date.

That is the point of the place. Ceremony, meal, dancing and bed are all inside the same forty acres, with no travel in between.
