Who runs this wood, and how

Forest Wedding is forty acres of the Wyre Forest, run as a wedding venue by Wyre Events. This page is what the place is, what was put into the ground before anyone was invited, and how we work — including the parts most venues would rather not put in writing.

Who we are

An events company, in the forest it is named after

Forest Wedding is run by Wyre Events, an events company working in the Wyre Forest. The venue sits on the Worcestershire side of the forest, a few minutes from Bewdley and about fifteen from Kidderminster station.

We hire the site to one wedding at a time. There is no second lawn, no other party in the next room and no changeover to work around, because there is nobody else on the forty acres that day.

What is under the trees

A wood with services already in the ground

Most woodland wedding sites are dry hire. You rent a piece of land and then build a wedding on it — structure, flooring, lighting, power, water, washrooms, a bar — which is where woodland weddings quietly go over budget.

The work here was done before anyone was invited to look at it. What that means in practice:

That list is the honest answer to why the hire fee is what it is. It is also the part you cannot see in a photograph, which is why we would rather you came and stood in it.

How we work

Published prices, your suppliers, no commission

Our prices are on the page rather than behind an enquiry form. Venue hire runs from £6,950 to £17,950 depending on the day, the season and the numbers, and what it includes is listed rather than implied.

You choose your own caterer, photographer, florist, band and everyone else. We have a caterer we work with and can introduce you, but you are under no obligation to use them. There is no approved supplier list and we take no commission from anybody — not from your caterer, not from your florist, not from the hotels we recommend on the getting here page.

We hold a date for fourteen days while you decide, and we will put the deposit, the payment schedule and the cancellation terms in writing before you commit to anything.

Where we are up to

We opened for weddings this year

It is a fair question and we would rather answer it than have you work it out. The site is finished — the clearing is licensed, the bar is plumbed, the washrooms are in and the power and water are live. Wyre Events has been running events in this wood, so the ground, the parking, the power and the washrooms have all been used properly rather than just installed. What is new is weddings.

That is the trade. You get a wood that is genuinely only yours on the day, run by people who have already worked events in it, and we get the weddings that let us stop describing the place and start showing it.

Not for everyone

A wood is not a hotel, and we are not going to pretend otherwise

If you want a room with a carpet, a co-ordinator in an earpiece and a day that runs to a printed schedule, there are places that do that very well and we are not one of them. It rains here. The paths are chipped bark. Heels sink in grass.

We would sooner say so on the phone than take a deposit and leave you to work that out on the day.

Come and walk it before you decide. An hour on foot, one couple at a time, seven days a week — book a viewing or read the venue guide first.
