Who we are

Forest Wedding is the trading name of Wyre Events, a wedding and events venue at Wyre Forest, near Bewdley, Worcestershire. For UK data protection law we are the data controller for the information described below. You can reach us at info@forestwedding.co.uk.

What we collect, and when

When you send an enquiry

Our enquiry form asks for your name, your email address, a telephone number, the date you are interested in and anything you want to tell us. We use it to reply to you and to talk to you about your event. Nothing more.

When you ask for the venue guide

To send you the venue guide we ask for your name, your email address and, optionally, a rough date. We use it to send you the guide and, if it looks like we can help, to follow up once. If you would rather we did not follow up, say so and we will not.

When you simply read the site

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. This tells us how many people looked at the prices; it does not tell us who you are. Google sets its own cookies to do this and processes that data on its own terms.

A cookie we set ourselves

When you request the venue guide we store a small cookie called fw_guide in your browser for a year. Its only job is to remember that you have already given us your details so we do not ask you for them a second time. It holds no personal information.

Why we are allowed to hold it

For enquiries and guide requests, our lawful basis is legitimate interests: you have asked us about hiring a venue, and replying to you is the obvious and expected consequence of that. For analytics, our basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time through your browser settings or a tracking blocker.

Who else sees it

Your enquiry is stored on this website, which is hosted for us by our web host, and it is emailed to us. We use Google Analytics as described above. We do not sell your information, we do not trade it, and we do not pass it to other wedding suppliers or advertisers. If we recommend a caterer or a photographer to you, we give you their details — we do not give them yours unless you ask us to.

How long we keep it

If you book with us, we keep your details for as long as we need them for the booking and for six years afterwards, which is what our accountants and insurers require. If you enquire and do not book, we keep your enquiry for three years, because couples often come back a season or two later. You can ask us to delete it sooner and we will.

What you can ask us to do

Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask for a copy of what we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to what we do with it, and to have it sent to you in a portable format. Email info@forestwedding.co.uk and we will deal with it within one month. There is no charge.

If you think we have handled your information badly, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes

If we change how we use your information we will update this page and change the date at the top of it.
